Privacy Policy

Effective date: 15/02/2015  |   Last updated: 15/02/2026

1 About this policy

Klujo provides interactive games within online content, including quizzes, word games and sponsored experiences. Our services may include user accounts, Kudos, rewards, leaderboards and advertising. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect and retain personal information when you visit our website or use our services, including games embedded on publisher websites.

In this policy, “Klujo”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to [insert full legal corporate name], a company based in Quebec, Canada. Personal information means information about an identifiable individual, including information that can identify someone when combined with other information.

This policy covers information that Klujo handles for its own service purposes. Publishers, advertisers, login providers and reward partners may also collect information under their own privacy policies. Where we process information solely on behalf of a publisher, that publisher’s instructions and applicable privacy notice also govern that processing.

2 Information we collect

Account information. When you register or log in, we collect the account information you provide and the identifiers needed to recognize your account. This includes your email address, your name or display name where provided, and your account identifier. We use this information to manage your account and associate your game activity, Kudos and rewards with it.

Game and activity information. We collect information about your interactions with Klujo games, including game views and starts, answers or guesses, completion, scores and use of hints, solutions and retries. We use this information to operate the games, measure engagement, improve the experience and report campaign performance. Activity associated with your account can be linked to your account. Playing without logging in does not necessarily make technical or activity information anonymous.

Kudos and reward information. We record Kudos earned and used, your balance, and reward claims or redemptions handled through Klujo. We also process the information needed to determine eligibility and deliver a campaign reward. Some sponsored games provide a coupon automatically after completion; other rewards require Kudos or a separate redemption step. When a reward takes you to a merchant or partner website, that partner handles information collected there under its own privacy policy.

Publisher and technical information. We associate game activity with the relevant publisher, article or game and sponsored campaign so that we can deliver contextual experiences and measure their performance. Our integrations and service providers may also process technical information such as IP addresses, browser or device information and session identifiers to load the service, maintain sessions, deliver advertising and diagnose problems. The technical information processed depends on the integration and your applicable privacy choices.

Advertising information. Klujo records ad requests and advertising activity associated with its game experiences, including rewarded ad delivery and the events needed to provide the selected game benefit. Advertising providers also process delivery and measurement information, such as impressions, video interactions and technical identifiers, subject to the relevant integration and privacy settings.

Communications. We collect information you provide when contacting us, requesting support, submitting feedback or making a privacy request. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless we specifically need it to respond.

3 How we collect information

We collect information directly when you register, log in, play games, earn or use Kudos, claim a reward or contact us. Game and advertising events are recorded through our platform and integrations. Reward partners may provide the confirmation needed to fulfil or verify a reward.

Klujo games run on our website and within publisher websites, including through embedded frames. The game and the publisher page can exchange information needed to display the experience, communicate a game action and coordinate advertising. For example, a request for a rewarded hint or retry can be communicated from the game to the advertising integration on the hosting page. Cookies, browser storage or similar technologies may support sessions and advertising, depending on the integration. These integrations do not give Klujo unrestricted access to all information held by the publisher.

4 Why we use information

We use personal information to operate games; create and authenticate accounts; save progress and preferences; administer scores, Kudos and rewards; verify eligibility; provide support; and send service communications.

We also use information to measure engagement and campaign performance, diagnose problems, improve game design and reliability, prevent fraud and abuse, protect accounts and rewards, and meet legal obligations. Where permitted and subject to required consent, we may use activity and preferences to personalize games, offers or advertising.

Game responses can reveal interests or preferences. Where we use these responses to infer interests or create an identifiable audience profile, we explain that purpose and provide the notice and choices required by applicable law. We do not treat an answer to a quiz as blanket permission for unrelated marketing or sensitive profiling.

Promotional communications and partner marketing are subject to the permissions required by applicable law. Where offered, you can unsubscribe from promotional messages using the link in the message or by contacting us. Essential account, security and reward fulfilment messages may still be sent.

5 Consent and privacy choices

We seek consent where required and explain the relevant information, purposes and recipients when you make a choice. Some processing may be permitted or required by law without consent. This policy provides information about our practices; reading it or continuing to use the service does not replace consent that must be obtained separately.

You can withdraw consent for consent based processing, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by using available privacy controls or contacting us. We will explain the consequences. If you withhold information necessary for an account or reward, we may be unable to provide that feature.

Where required, optional analytics, advertising or profiling technologies are activated only after the necessary choice or consent. Controls may be provided by Klujo, the publisher or the relevant partner. Browser settings can also restrict cookies, although they may affect login, progress saving or rewards. A publisher’s consent choice applies to Klujo only where its consent mechanism covers our processing and communicates that choice to us.

Where identification, location or profiling functions require specific notice or activation under applicable law, we provide that information and the required activation choice. Optional marketing permission is separate from account registration or acceptance of our Terms and Conditions.

6 Advertising and rewarded ads

Klujo experiences may include display ads, sponsored games and optional rewarded ads. A rewarded ad may allow you to obtain a hint, solve a game, retry or receive an additional benefit, as described before you choose it. Ad providers may process technical identifiers and ad interaction data to deliver ads, measure performance, limit repetition and detect invalid traffic.

Klujo uses Google Ad Manager and Google advertising services to support advertising within its publisher integrations. Demand partners may also participate in serving an ad. Some information is collected directly by these advertising partners. Their privacy notices and the applicable consent controls explain that processing, including any personalized advertising.

Choosing to watch a rewarded ad is a choice about the advertised benefit. It is not, by itself, consent to personalized advertising, partner marketing or unrelated disclosure of your account information.

7 Publishers sponsors and audience reporting

We provide publishers and campaign sponsors with reports about game and campaign performance, such as views, plays, completion, answer distribution and reward activity. Where possible, reports use aggregated information that does not identify individual users. Aggregated information is not automatically anonymous if a small group or other available information allows someone to be identified.

If an experience involves sharing identifiable activity, account details or audience segments with a publisher or sponsor, we explain the specific information, recipient and purpose and obtain consent where required. Sponsoring a game does not automatically give a sponsor access to every player’s email address or account.

The publisher’s own collection on its website, and any subsequent processing by a sponsor under its own purposes, are covered by that organization’s privacy notice.

8 When we disclose information

Service providers. We may share necessary information with providers supporting hosting, authentication, analytics, communications, security, customer support and reward delivery. Access is limited to their role, and we use contractual protections appropriate to the service and applicable law.

Reward partners. When a reward requires partner fulfilment or verification, we may share the identifier, contact details, eligibility or transaction information needed for that purpose. If you follow a link to claim an offer on a partner’s website, information you provide there is handled under its policy. Receiving a reward does not automatically enroll you in a partner’s marketing.

Publishers, sponsors and advertising partners. Disclosures may occur as described in Sections 6 and 7 and in the notice for the relevant experience. Technical advertising identifiers can be personal information even when an email address is not shared.

Legal and business circumstances. We may disclose information where required or permitted by law, including to respond to lawful requests, investigate fraud or protect rights and security. A merger, acquisition or transfer of business assets may involve disclosure subject to applicable legal safeguards and notice requirements.

Playing a sponsored game or receiving a coupon does not, by itself, authorize a partner to use your account information for independent marketing. Any disclosure for a separate marketing purpose requires the notice and permissions applicable to that purpose.

9 Leaderboards and public features

If you participate in a public leaderboard, your display name, score or rank may be visible to other users. The experience should identify the information displayed before participation. Avoid choosing a display name that reveals information you do not want to make public. Contact us if you need help with information displayed through a Klujo public feature.

10 Where information is processed

Klujo operates from Quebec, Canada and works with publishers and service providers internationally. Personal information may be stored, accessed or processed outside Quebec and Canada, including in Singapore. Information processed abroad may be subject to local laws and lawful access by authorities.

Before transfers or processing arrangements that require a privacy impact assessment, we assess the relevant risks and protections and use the contractual or other safeguards required by applicable law. Contact us for more information about the arrangements relevant to your information.

11 How long we retain information

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Retention depends on the type of record, account activity, reward and accounting requirements, security needs and outstanding disputes.

Account information is generally retained while the account is active and for the applicable period after closure. Game events, advertising records and logs are retained according to their operational purposes. Reward transaction records may need to be kept after account closure to address fulfilment, fraud, accounting or legal obligations.

When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or destroy it, or anonymize it where permitted and in accordance with applicable requirements. Removing a name or replacing it with an identifier does not necessarily make a record anonymous. Backup copies may remain until the applicable backup cycle ends and remain subject to protection. You can contact us for information about the retention period that applies to a particular record.

12 How we safeguard information

We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the risks involved. These include access restrictions, authentication controls, secure transmission where appropriate, confidentiality requirements and controls over service provider access. Authorized personnel in service operations, technical support, security and reward administration access information only as needed for their responsibilities.

We maintain procedures for handling privacy requests and complaints and responding to suspected confidentiality incidents. Where an incident triggers a legal notification obligation, we notify affected individuals and the relevant authorities as required. No online service or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

13 Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on applicable law, you may request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, withdrawal of consent, account closure or deletion of information that no longer needs to be retained. You may also have rights to receive eligible computerized information in a structured, commonly used format, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to request cessation of dissemination or deindexing in qualifying circumstances.

Contact our Privacy Officer using Section 16. Tell us what you are requesting and provide enough information to locate your account. We may take proportionate steps to verify identity or authority before releasing or changing information. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, explain any lawful refusal or limitation, and identify available review or complaint options.

Deletion is not always immediate or absolute. Information may need to be retained for legal obligations, security, unresolved reward transactions or disputes. Account closure may affect access to progress, Kudos and rewards, as explained in the applicable terms. Requests concerning information held independently by a publisher or partner should be directed to that organization.

You can raise a privacy concern with us first, without limiting your right to contact a regulator. In Quebec, you may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information at www.cai.gouv.qc.ca. Where federal Canadian privacy law applies, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca. Users elsewhere may contact their relevant privacy authority.

14 Children and young users

Account and reward eligibility is subject to the age requirements stated in the applicable service or campaign terms. Where consent from a parent or guardian is legally required, we obtain that consent before collecting or using a child’s personal information on that basis. In Quebec, collection from a child under 14 generally requires parental or guardian consent, subject to the applicable legal exception.

If you believe a child has provided information without the required authorization, contact our Privacy Officer. We will assess the report and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

15 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our services, practices or legal obligations. We publish the updated version and revision date on our website. For material changes, we provide additional notice where required and obtain fresh consent when a new purpose or practice requires it.
